The German multi-brand hotel group The Chocolate on the Pillow Group is taking over the traditional Hotel Aarauerhof in Aarau. Following the Mercure Zürich City, this will be the group’s second property in Switzerland.
The existing building will undergo a comprehensive renovation and will reopen under the Moxy brand as part of the Marriott Group, the world’s largest hotel chain. The future Moxy Aarau will offer around 145 modern rooms across a total area of approximately 3,750 square metres. The ground floor will feature an open, social space with a reception, bar, and lounge café. In the basement, plans include a versatile event space and a state-of-the-art fitness area.
Bratschi Ltd. assisted and supported The Chocolate on the Pillow Group on these contract negotiations. The mandate was led by Ion Eglin.
With this acquisition, Rusterholz Holding AG – a family-owned business approaching its 100th anniversary next year – becomes the largest company on the left side of Lake Zurich in the areas of plants, nurseries, and garden and terrace services.
The listed company PLAZZA AG is acquiring all shares in A. Schönbächler & Co AG, based in Affoltern am Albis, with retroactive effect as of January 1, 2025. The shareholders, in turn, ensure the succession planning of the long-established A. Schönbächler & Co AG.
